Welcome
My name is Bridget and I am the principal Clinical Psychologist. I aim to provide welcoming, user-friendly clinical psychology services offering effective treatments for psychological problems, particularly for psychological difficulties of a serious and distressing nature. My services include:
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy DBT
Bridget Hogg Psychology Brisbane offers a comprehensive program of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy DBT. DBT is the recommended treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder BPD, as well as being an evidence–based treatment for addictions such as drug and alcohol abuse, deliberate self-harm, eating disorders (bulimia and binge eating), depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). DBT is a skills-based approach to problems. DBT skills are taught in group skills training sessions, and individual psychotherapy sessions maximise the use of DBT skills in each individual’s specific lives and areas of difficulty. There are four sets of DBT skills: Mindfulness skills, skills to help with regulating emotions that feel too intense or last too long (Emotion Regulation), skills to help with tolerating life’s inevitable distresses while managing to avoid doing things which might make the situation worse (Distress Tolerance), and Interpersonal Effectiveness skills for getting more of what you want in relationships, including learning to say no, ask for help and get your views heard whilst simultaneously enhancing the relationship and your own self-esteem.
Bridget Hogg Psychology Brisbane aims to provide high quality DBT treatment options, and flexible and affordable programs. We run lively, relaxed and supportive group programs in which participants learn and practice DBT skills, and often make new friends along the way.

Eating Disorders Brisbane provides compassionate and highly experienced treatment for all eating disorders including Anorexia, Bulimia and binge eating. Eating disorders are serious problems, which affect physical as well as emotional and psychological well-being. Often people suffer with disordered eating patterns for many years before seeking treatment. Shame and embarrassment about eating patterns are common reasons for avoiding treatment.
At Eating Disorders Brisbane we offer compassionate and experienced help for sufferers of eating disorders. We use evidence-based treatments, which means treatments shown by independent research to be effective. Cognitive behaviour therapy offers much to the treatment of eating disorders of all kinds, and I have significant experience in using CBT approaches to anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and other patterns of disordered eating. If you suffer from an eating disorder of any kind, I encourage you to contact me at Eating Disorders Brisbane, and please be reassured you that whatever your difficulty with eating you will be met with understanding and acceptance.

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ACT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy DBT and cognitive behaviour therapy CBT. I aim to create a relaxed and friendly environment during sessions, and to communicate my genuine interest in clients’ lives and difficulties. Although we will of course sometimes need to deal with upsetting or anxiety-provoking topics, I also believe that there is a place for humour in all relationships including the therapy one.
I am passionate about helping people improve the quality of their lives, particularly those for whom life feels at times extremely difficult and painful. It is an act of courage and self-care to seek help for psychological difficulties, and I respect and admire those who take the first step by making an appointment.
Please explore this website and read some of the articles and blogs that I have written – they cover a wide range of topics and I hope that at least some of them will be of relevance or interest to you. Please don't hesitate to contact me with your questions or to book appointments.
